Great Ape Garden (early July)

Like most of us, the Great Ape Trust bonobos and orangutans love fresh produce. Thanks to a new garden and some helpful humans, the summer shapes up to be a tasty one.
Getting the Great Ape Garden in shape hasn't been easy. The first plot flooded during a high water mark in late spring. Not to be deterred, longtime Great Ape Trust volunteer John McKee bought more seeds and plants and moved Great Ape Garden to higher ground. A spot north of the bonobo home and west of the orangutan building.
The organic garden will produce some of the favorites of the bonobos and orangutans: tomatoes, sweet corn, cucumbers, green beans, lettuce and cabbage. The effort also helps trim the food budget at Great Ape Trust.
