The busload of seniors who were part of a Road Scholar learning program have seen many things in their long lives - but probably nothing quite like Great Ape Trust.
First a little background. The Road Scholar program is a lifelong learning effort created by Elderhostel, Inc. Educational tours targeted toward seniors are offered around the world. The Road Scholar visit to Great Ape Trust was part of a tour package coordinated by Simpson College, an academic partner of The Trust.
About two dozen Road Scholars arrived at the front door of the bonobo home - greeted by Dr. Sue Savage-Rumbaugh, a pioneer in the field of ape research, and the newest participant in the bonobo program, Baby Teco.
Inside the bonobo laboratory, Road Scholars were introduced to the scientific research program conducted there as well as members of the bonobo colony who call Great Ape Trust home. A highlight of the bonobo tour was a research demonstration by Kanzi.
The lifelong learners also had the opportunity to meet the two orangutans who live at Great Ape Trust, Allie and Popi.

Tried to find information on this program and couldn't. How does one participate in a program like this and who to contact? I would LOVE to visit GAT again. Thank you
