The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in the south western part of Uganda in the eastern part of continent Africa. It serves to be the part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and it also lies in close vicinity to the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Park covers the land area of more than 331 square kilometers and is occupied with lowland forest and the montane forest that can easily be accessed from foot. Although there are many paths and routes that lead to this amazing destination but the tourists just love to come here from Entebbe. This place is very famous for featuring the richest ecosystems of the continent and the diversity of species that is spotted inside the park area has no comparison with any other place. It serves to be the home of more than 27 species of frogs, geckos, chameleons, 220 species of butterflies, 348 species of birds, 120 species of mammals and hundreds of endangered animal species. There are more than 104 species of ferns, 163 species of trees and almost 1,000 flowering plants. The major attraction of this park is the endangered species of mountain gorillas. There are almost 340 individual mountain gorillas that serve to be the most integral part of Bwindi population. These mountain gorillas make up half the population of total gorilla population that occupies the complete world. The number has increased with the passage of time and now this place is known as the most darling part of the world where you can spot plenty of mountain gorillas. The park serves to be the member of the Uganda Wildlife Authority and the tourism here continues throughout the year. The rainy season is the most difficult period of the year because conditions are critical and the environment is not good. The park area is also speckled with a large variety of lodges and accommodations and each one of them offers you luxurious and comfortable ambiance.
Gorilla tracking is the major allurement of the region that captures the attention of plenty of locals as well as the foreigners. To track gorillas, a traveler is required to obtain a permit first otherwise the park won”t allow. This Gorilla tracking is the major activity in the park that generates major revenue for the economy of the country. There are many other species that can also be seen inside the premises of the park and these include the small antelope species, the giant forest hog, vervets, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus, the Cream-banded Swallowtail, African Green Broadbill, African elephant, L’Hoest’s monkey and the common chimpanzees. Besides, the park also serves to be the home of many carnivores that include the African civet, the African golden cat and the side-striped jackal. There are more than 350 bird species and the park also captures the attention of all those bird-watchers who take cheap airline flights to Entebbe.
