Bonobo »
Once known as pygmy chimpanzees, bonobos weren't identified as a separate species (Pan paniscus) until 1933 and are found only in the Democratic Repubulic of Congo.

   Orangutan »
Orangutans (Pongo spp.) are Asia's only great ape and are found in Bornea, Sumatra and Malaysia. In the Malay language orangutan means 'person of the forest.'
