Des Moines, Iowa – October 21, 2010 – For the fifth time, the Web site of Great Ape Trust has been recognized as one of the best in the United States. Great Ape Trust was honored recently with a W3 Silver Award by the International Academy of the Visual Arts. Receiving over 3,000 entries, The W3 Awards honor outstanding Web sites, Web marketing, Web video, & mobile apps created by some of the best interactive agencies, designers, and creators worldwide.
“Our Web site was redesigned this spring and has already paid nice dividends for Great Ape Trust,” said Al Setka, communications director at The Trust. “It’s the backbone of our marketing and communications effort and brings to the world our bonobo research program in Des Moines and our Forest of Hope restoration effort in Rwanda.”
Other noteworthy companies and organizations that received W3 Silver Awards include Mayo Clinic, Microsoft, Jet Propulsion Lab, E*Trade Financial, CBS Radio, Disney Interactive Media and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Web site, www.GreatApeTrust.org was designed and programmed by the Great Ape Trust communications department and Trilix, a full-service marketing agency in Johnston, IA. In addition to the Web site, Great Ape Trust incorporates YouTube channel, Facebook and Twitter into its communications efforts. Since 2003, Great Ape Trust’s Web site has also been recognized for creative excellence by the Webby Awards and the Web Marketing Association.

Great Ape Trust is a scientific research facility in Des Moines, Iowa, dedicated to understanding the origins and future of culture, language, tools and intelligence, and to the preservation of endangered great apes in their natural habitats.
